My paintings

The shown paintings belong to a series of thirty-five motifs. The frames are being manufactured by myself using rejected items I get out of a dumpster of a wholesale with permission. Sometimes it may last up to 9 months until I have found four matching frame pieces. They then will be sawed in suitable length.

These rejected frames are new and not accepted by customers. For example the frames may have tiny scratches, are slightly twisted, form and color differ or they are cracked.

These European paintings are a material way to peace in this kind of form.

Up next - harder, deeper, less clear - more information, more questions - for those who enjoy literature:

Once a week I climb into the dumpster of a wholesale, sometimes with a tie around my neck, searching for frames between the trash of kitchens and gardens and debris of buildings. It often takes one hour of work until I reach the bottom of the dumpster.

What I am doing here? I am preserving and protecting the environment: these frames will not reach a waste disposal site to be burned and poison our, the flora’s and fauna’s air. "Thanks" from nature to you !
Even the passe-partouts are cardboards found in the waste.

Unused material is taken advantage of for the reliefs I make by lime, which is three times harder than porcelain, and the watercolors I use to paint. If there are not enough rejected frames in the dumpster, I may buy an additional new one. The result is a mixed calculation.

Depending on the motif, it takes one to one and a half hour to produce a framed painting:
driving to the wholesale, picking the frame parts out of the trash, cleaning, sorting, storing until four matching and long enough frame pieces have been found, measuring, miter cutting, glueing and maybe staining them in one or more color.

Then selecting cardboard passe-partouts in suitable colors and cutting them in size.

Stirring the lime, pouring it in the moulds, after hardening air-drying or drying them the on heating. Coloring the reliefs on the street in the city of Trier, Germany or anywhere else. Measuring, fixing the hook on the backside of the frame by driving it in with a hammer and nails or pressing the nails with pliers into the wood, if it is soft enough. Putting together passe-partout, frame and colored reliefs in harmonic position. Labeling it with name, year and signature on the passe-partout. An example:

Because my painted clouds are thought to be man-made, illustrated as I imagine them, they could have been floated elsewhere by now. Sometimes it may happen, that there is a different city-name below the painted relief according to the wish of the customer. The date of year? This may differ, too. But these attributes do not change the motif formulating peace as a global quality of life in form of a next higher level of civilization.
